The
castle of Foix's tales.
Dress
on a cliff in the confluence of Arget and the Ariege, Foix's castle
bulwarks of which marry hilly landscape, dominates the city of its
three towers. The history of this military architecture begins in
the Middle Age and becomes confused with that of Foix's tales. The
visit of the castle offers a vast panorama on the city of Foix, on
the medieval plan of the streets as well as on the magnificent landscape
of Pyrenean mountains and allows to discover the collections of the
local museum of the Ariege. The architecture of rooms keeps, engraved
in the stone, the marks of shall stain and the gratifies of prisoners.
Opening:
from January 01 till April 30 and of October 01 in the 31 December
from 10 o'clock 30 till 12 o'clock and from 14 o'clock till 17 o'clock
30. In May, in June, in September from 9 o'clock 45 till 12 o'clock
and from 14 o'clock till 18 o'clock. In July and August from 9 o'clock
45 till 18 o'clock 30. Closed December 25 and January 01 and Monday
after the first September weekend.

Montségur's
castle.
Placed
on a called cliff " pog ", in 1207 meters in height, the castle
dominates the village which has curious one architecture. The ascent
of the summit is made in 30 minutes with a good breath and of good shoes.
Citadel in the impressive ruins, Montségur was, among another
one, the capital of the Cathar church. During the last crusade against
Albigeois, this fortress became the symbol of the resistance of Southern
tales. After a seat of 10 months, it fell in the hands of the royal
army in March, 1244. Refusing to renounce their faith, 225 "perfects"
were burned lively at feet of the " pog ".
Opening:
All year long. paying access from March 01 till December 31. Free
visit. Conducted tour in July and August at 11 o'clock, 13 hours,
15 hours, 16 hours 30 and 17 a hour 30. Other periods for the groups
on booking.

Roquefixade's
castle.
Placed
at the top of a cliff, the castle dominates the valley of Lesponne.
This fortress was built in circles of 11-th century. Roquefixade's
castle sheltered the union of " Pereilhe's Ramon " and from
" Lantan's cobra " which, with his daughter " Esclarmonde
", rose on the stake.
Opening
: free access all year long. Visits commented on inquiry all year
long for groups or individual.

Usson's
castle - House of the patrimony.
At
the bottom of Usson's castle, the ancient stable of 18-th century,
was reconstructed to shelter the House of the Patrimony. Inside it,
you will be able to see the model of Usson's castle, the model of
the country of Donezan, an ethnographic exhibition, a cowshed and
a reconstruction of traditional house. Archaeological showroom with
a part on the excavations of Usson. Temporary exhibition on the fauna
and flora.
Opening
: from July 21 till August 20 all days from 10 o'clock till 13
o'clock and from 15 o'clock till 19 o'clock. From September 01 till
November 30 all the weekends and holidays. On inquiry for the other
periods.
